 Leslie R. Winn
is a native of Axton, Virginia. She was fortunate to grow up in a family of business entrepreneurs and accomplished seamstresses, both of which contributed to her career as a costumer and dressmaker.  After graduating from Virginia Tech she worked for several years as a professional costumer, then returned to college for post-graduate work at Virginia Commonwealth University and in 1981 established THE COSTUME SHOP.  She has been privileged to work with many amazing and talented people through the years to create beautiful clothing and costumes.  When not working in THE COSTUME SHOP, Leslie enjoys rooting for her alma mater (Go Hokies!), her favorite baseball team (Go Braves!), and especially spending time with her family and friends.

Ivy Dale Austin experienced an idyllic childhood in Chardon, Ohio. There she began sewing at the age of 6, much to the amazement of her family. By the age of 10 she had the best dressed Barbie in town. Junior High brought the Beatles and the need to recreate the Carnaby Street look and sewing for Barbie fell by the wayside. Once she entered High School, College prep came to the fore.  As luck would have it, she discovered costuming  at Bowling Green State University.  There she learned things about sewing that she had not been able to teach herself in the Barbie or Beatles years. After graduation she found a job working as a professional costumer, which is where she met Leslie. She continued working while Leslie went to Grad school. In 1981 she moved to Richmond to help Leslie establish THE COSTUME SHOP. The years since moving to Richmond have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly, but for the most part have been filled with wonderful, talented people, and the privilege to create lots of beautiful clothing and fun, imaginative costumes.  She is a Hokie fan by association, but found the Braves on her own!
